Dawson Film Lab (2023)

A short documentary about the Dawson Film Lab led by Phil Hoffman (of the Independent Imaging Retreat/ Film Farm) in September of 2022 – a week long residency experimenting with the use of subarctic plants to develop celluloid film stock.

Commissioned by the Klondike Institute of Art and Culture with the support of Northwestel.

With the support of the Heritage Department of the Trʼondëk Hwëchʼin Government, I mentored Annie Procee for nine months. Together we made a documentary honouring the life of her grandfather Percy Henry (1928-2024): beloved elder, former chief of the Tr'ondëk Hwëch'in First Nation, and the last fluent speaker of the Hän lanuage.

In 2016, I filmed and edited my first ever mini-documentary (5 mins) about Yukon Girls Rock Camp (now Rock the North) with April Aliermo for CBC Arts (view here)

In 2018, I was hired by Rock the North as Camp Herstorian to direct, produce, film, and edit another short documentary (6 mins) for promotional purposes (view here).

Rock the North is a social justice camp that uses rock music and positive mentorship to empower girls and gender non-conforming youth in Yukon Territory, Canada. Learn more here.

”All of the LOLW Sister Leagues have been called to throw down in the infamous Dawson City League of Lady Wrestlers homedmade ring. Wrestlers from queer and far will descend upon Dawson in August to climb over the ropes and battle their sisters in slam. Many lady wrestlers will step into the ring, but only one will can be the ULTIMATE LADY WRESTLER!"

I participated as a wrestler (Carmen Obscura) from 2015-16 and then was the league's documentarian from 2017-18. I contributed photo and video footage to the Dawson City League of Lady Wrestlers Archive Project exhibited at the ODD Gallery in Dawson City in May-June of 2024.
